Chipset Noob Question

Alright i'm a little confused on the whole chipset deal, ignore the fact this has nothing to do with BF2 support. What makes a Nvidia Nforce 570 chipset better than the Nforce 4 chipset? Or perhaps other noname chipsets that just talk about northbridge and southbridge bus's?
I'm looking to buy a new MotherBoard since my A8n-e seems to not be working right, any recommendations? Cheaper prices are better :-D Thanks in advance everyone.

Yea its new. You will have to read about it to tell all the advantages. A word of caution though, Anandtech did a review on the first board with this chipset today and they weren't that impressed with the overclocking ablilities. Also, it only supports dual 8x PCIe in SLI:

the nForce 590 chipset is comming out next month and it will be the enthusiest chipset supporting full dual 16x SLI.

if your talking about for intel, then yes... but if your talking about AMD then your a little behind

yup. the 590 chipset was available to amd long ago. its only recently been available for intel. if u want to know more about the difference between the nforce 500 series. read this.

anyway, whats wrong with your a8n? memory problems? if so, try updating the bios. the old bios version on the a8n had memory compatibilty problems.

Ya I was talking Intel. I just assumed that any enthusiest buying a new computer now would be buying Intel since they are so far ahead in price/performance everywhere but the low end. Especially with intels lowly $250 C2D E6400 beating out every AMD chip in existence except for the FX-62 :laugh:

yup, the intel conroe will take the market from amd if the nforce 500 series is available for it too. the only reason before then was that only intel 965 or 975 chipsets supported conroe which limited its appeal. the nforce is a very powerful and popular chipset. paired with conroe, it would retake its market share.
it would have the best of cpu's and its sli compatriot which enjoyed better success compared to ati for being more mature technology. the intel chipsets might become lower end mobos, with only those with crossfire ability pushing to the midrange sector.
