Have you tried sticking another video card in your system to see if it changes anything? I am willing to sell my current card and get another one if that will make the game run successfully.
Also, if you have an nvidia card, and turn on both HDR and AA, which will the card choose to run?
But try different version drivers and some comp specs maybe good as it maybe the hardware limitations causing it!
It is actually a well known bug, with no known fix. People have tried everything known in the bf2 community to fix it, yet the game always caps at 15 fps. This is something i havent seen tried yet, and im very interested to see how this would turn out.
As for the hardware limitations, that simply isnt the case. a computer equipped with a p4 HT 3.0gz, 1gb DDR2, and a 7600gt should be able to run the game at 800x600, all low with an fps alot higher than 15. No faulty hardware either.
I used to have it, it was due to windows x64 and nvidia nforce 4 drivers. After some shouting and screaming at the screen i thort what happens if i only install the network drivers. The thing now plays at its max!!! Im not to sure the problem is with x86 OS's as well.
Well i dont have win x64, or an nf4 mobo, and im not exactly sure what you mean by installing just the network drivers. Would you mind elaborating?
And you venny, i commend you, because it is completely unplayable for me. Extremely choppy and laggy. Do you have another video card laying around or would you be able to borrow a friends video card? I'm very interested in knowing how that would turn out.
on the nforce 4 drivers they give u options to install the Sound drivers network drivers and firewall drivers in one go. When i had the issue i formatted my machine put the nforce 4 drivers on but only selected the network drivers then put the graphics on and my problem was sorted (i was so happy i ran round my house)

I so know that feeling of glee when you know something is wrong and bash at it long enough to figure it out. I reformatted at least 7 times trying to figure out all my issues and screwing it all up multiple times but now I'm good to go!
