    athlon 64 3800+ or x2 3800+

im about to order the parts to my computer, but i dont know which cpu to get... i know that the x2 is dual core, and will help in muli-tasking, but according to the benchmarks, the athlon 64 3800+ does better in gaming benchmarks. how much will the x2 help in multi tasking, is it worth it if im going to upgrade to the new AMD processors next year or will the normal athlon 64 be good enough until then?

what do you use your computer for gaming? or something else? well from what ive heard the x2 will be better for you on future upgrades and other things. i would defently go with the x2.

it helps A LOT in multitasking

there was a time when X2 cost $300 and X1 cost $150... many still bought X2

for now the A64 3800+ is better for gaming as hardly any games utilise dual core proccessor technolnogy

however games in the future might make full use of having 2 cores

i have the A64 3800+ had it for about a year and havnt had any trouble its a very good processsor with a good GPU it can handle any game

          Re: athlon 64 3800+ or x2 3800+

          That's cause the 3800+ runs at 2.4, while the X2 3800 runs and 2.0
So get teh 3800X2 and oc it to 2.4 and you will have a X2 3800 that can run with the 3800+ . Capishe...
