I am inclined to tell you that the latter is the more efficient and powerful card.

both cards will let u play bf2 on med/high settings (the ram on ur computer mite be a bit small but its manegable)

i think the x800 looks like a better card just by comparing side by side

the x800 has more pixelpipelines but other than that most of the other stuff looks about the same

yes, getting either one of those cards will let you play on med/high. But it would be better if you got 2 gigs. It wont stutter as much.

if you can put in a few extra dollars you can get the 7600GT

that would let you play almost all high with the shadows etc. on meduim. with 2x AA. Well... thats how i play it anyway.

x800gto has more pipelines and a faster core, but 20mhz slower memory. I'd go with the x800gto.

If you have a little more cash, and are interested in multimedia at all, here's a link I posted this a.m.

x800xt All-in-Wonder for ~$160 isn't bad at all. (the -xt core is 100mhz faster than the -gto, has 4 more pipelines, and has 20mhz faster memory.)

As for the memory, I've got 2 sticks of these and have never had any problems:

BUT you aren't going to want to throw away your 1gb pc2700 to get 1gb of pc3200. The difference would be negligible. How many total ram slots do you have left open? How many are left open? I don't know if I'd spend another hundred dollars on a gig of ddr-400. You won't be able to recycle it into the next computer you build.

Having said that, if you can go to 2gb and a decent gpu, you could probably game on medium/high comfortably for the next 12-18 months at least.

I only have 512 RAM and I never stutter. It runs very smoothly, unless someone turns on the computer downstaris. Both are good cards, its your choice on what you want to spend your money on.

Asked before--ask again: what is your current ram configuration? 4x256? 2x512? 1x1gb? you WOULD NOT want to throw away 2x512 if you have 2 open slots. just get another 2x512 pc 2700 and it will be ok. not quite as fast as pc3200, but more economical and you probably won't notice the diff. you could buy 3200 (if it's on sale), but it will auto clock DOWN to match the 2700, so the extra mhz is NOT worth it if you want to keep your current ram (which--if it was me--i would do)

however, if you have 4x256 (a lot of dells do this) then you should chunk the lot and sell it on ebay and buy 1gb of pc3200. then, buy another gb of pc 3200 when your budget allows. don't go over 2gb of ddr with winderz xp, though!
