Just wanted to post the results of 2 gig pc2700, 6600 GT 256 MB 128 bit and AMD athlon 2600... plays BF2 smoothly with all settings on high except lighting and shadows with 2xAA.
With AGP and slower processor, upgrading to 2 gigs ram beats new video card expense.
That's right. My mobo supports 400 fsb but 2 sticks are 2700/512 each and 1 stick is 3200/1 gig and the speed of both types combined together is 306 MHz.
What would help more...another gig of ram or upgrade from athlon 2600 (266 MHz) to sempron 2800 (333 MHz) ??
Actually I made the statement because I think your CPU is only a 333FSB, depsite what your mobo allows, pc2700 is what it(the CPU) uses.
Pretty sure the xp3000+ is the lowest model that had 400FSB, and only some of them.

The upgrade to that CPU would yeild minimal results, in this case more ram would be better...but a good video card is the best thing to have if performance is the key.
