You seriously don't want to build your own computer (most likely a LOT cheaper)? But yes, that will run anything just fine. If you want to cut some costs, just get 2gb of memory. 4gb is way overkill. I would think that Alienware doesn't let you overclock their CPU's since Dell doesn't, which is really a shame if your getting a Core 2 Duo.

I really think you ought to just build it yourself; it's a lot more rewarding and cheaper.

I am not very good with the technical stuff - I'm only an end user - going retail just works for me, I know I could save money by building my own but...

Thanks for the tip on the RAM - I will only get 2 gig and save some $$

Also - I checked with Alienware and you can overclock this rig...

Aight, that 6800 should get up to 3.8 or so if they let you overclock the CPU. What monitor will you be using this on? And if you're paying extra for that Norton Antivirus, I would just skip it. Quite a few people have problems with it and BF2. Apparently AVG Antivirus works just as well, and is free.

alienware is pretty expensive and i know you say you cant build a system, but for their price ive heard many problems just try googling alienware sucks and read peoples issues with them....im not saying yours will be just a head ups good luck with your decision.

I have a 26'' Sharp Aquos HDTV running at 1280 X 768.

Yea - I know people have had problems, but about the same have had a good experience too. I'm using my bonus money for a good quarter.

Getting such good video cards is so pointless if you're going to use such a small resolution as that. Either get a single 7900gtx or a 7900gt. The 7900gt ought to do just fine; that's what I use and I use a higher resolution (1280x1024). And you should be able to overclock the 6700 just as good as that 6800, so I don't think it's worth the $575 price difference.

Getting such good video cards is so pointless if you're going to use such a small resolution as that. Either get a single 7900gtx or a 7900gt. The 7900gt ought to do just fine; that's what I use and I use a higher resolution (1280x1024)

Thats a good idea, and then I will also have a slot for that Physx processor because I also play Ghost Recon.

The Physx card actually uses just a normal PCI slot, not PCIe, but whatever. And honestly it doesn't do that much at all, and it has been reported that it actually slows down the fps in Ghost Recon. Honestly noone talks about them anymore because it's pretty much a dead technology... very few games use it.

Is there any chance you have a surround sound setup? If so, I would suggest getting buying an X-Fi XtremeMusic soundcard from Newegg and slip that in there... if opening your case doesn't void your warranty. The X-Fi that Alienware is just so expensive...

As you might be able to tell by now, I'm not a big fan of buying gaming desktops prebuilt. If a 15-year-old (16 now :)) can build a computer, it's probably not that hard Everything is color-coded and has notches so you put stuff in the right direction, and motherboards come with instructions on where to slip everything on. As far as finding compatible parts, I can do that for you if you want to build it yourself :)
