I think his new PC is PCIe and his old one used AGP, so I don't think that would work.

Well, if I had to choose, I would take his old machine over his new one anyday.....

If you're willing to spend $310, go with the 1900xt. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102025
That's a pretty awesome price considering it came out at $450+
edit: you will probably need to get a new power supply... the XPS 400 only comes with a 375watt PSU. It might work though, as you can get a 7900gtx with the XPS 400

The 7300 is the low-end card of the current generation of GPU's and the 6800gt was one of the higher-end GPU's of the pervious generation, but the 6800gt is actually better.

And keep in mind when buying video cards that the amount of memory is not everything. They make crap x1300's, ATI's low-end card, with 512mb. My high-end card, the 7900gt, actually has the same amount of memory as your 7300, but it is leaps and bounds ahead of the 7300 in speed.

    They're both 256MB???

The 7300 also runs CSSource perfect... just not BF2
The 7300 is just an overall not good card. Its meant for the lower end crowd that doesnt game much. The reason it runs css is becuase valve was nice enough to optimize the source engine so that it could run well on low end systems, unlike ea and dice.
