Two Sets of Dual Channel

I recently purchased another 2GBs of memory (OCZ Platinum) and attempted to install it along side my older 1GB (OCZ Gold). Both sets are dual channel, and I've got a DFI LANParty nForce4 SLD-D. The mobo manual says it does support two different sets of dual channel, but that memory speed will reduce to 333MHz. However when I installed the memory, the computer wouldn't boot and the status LEDs point to the RAM.

Now the computer runs fine with either of the two sets, so I was wondering if it was even possible to install two different sets of dual channel memory in the same machine.

You cannot run memory on two seperate speeds or the computer will cut you down to the slower RAM.

I think what you did there was confuse the Manual a little bit. You can have two different RAM speeds supported by the board. It must be one or the other, not both at the same time.

I say toss or sell the older RAM and get yourself another set to match the new recent RAM.

Thanks, but the speed of both sets are the same (PC3200). And not that it would matter much to me if the speed of both sets was reduced to 3200, as IMHO that's still all right.

Imcompatible timings, maybe? Did you reset the CMOS when you installed the new RAM?
