I didn't think it'd make much of a difference either, but when I got my 2nd one I saw a big impact on the crispness of BF2.
I run 1600x1200 with everything on full.
And everything just got alot crisper with the second card.

Oh I see...I myself am ordering a whole new comp from newegg and all this talk of 79xx cards is making me think. I was originally getting the 7900GT, should I step up to the 7900GTX/7950GX2? Will it pay off in the long run buyin one of those two cards now instead? Or save up money and pick up another 7900GT and run it in SLI?

Yeah I have one from newegg in a step-up, but I paid 1st day price for it (way over msrp) so it's pretty damn close to the current evga site 7950 listing.

And the second one I actually got for just under msrp and I am selling it at almost retail price.

I thought I was going to be stuck with the second 7900 GTX (it was a step-up from a 6800 GT and could not be traded in twice) but I lucked out and found a buyer pretty quick.

evga's step-up program may take a little while with the long que for in-demand cards, but it seriously is worth it.

Well consider this:

You buy a second gt, you're stuck with those two cards.

You buy a 7950, you have the power of those two cards PLUS room for future expansion (another 7950, hence 4 gpu's total).

Like someone said, if you have big monitor(1080X1024 is not big) then yes, the only benefict it will give you with a regular size monitor is higher AA, i dont think is worth it. Would i buy it if i have the money.....maybe..... but even then, is not worth it. Not for BF2 anyways.

Going to echo what some of the other guys have said. The benchmarks quoted prove that at low resolutions (1280 and below), SLI gives little benefit. It is simply not cost effective to make that upgrade in your case IMO. Your system is about as good as it gets right now. Save your money for something like a CPU upgrade in the future, since the prices are dropping. Or get some raptors, or more RAM, both will give you more benefit and system longevity.

I think you all have vaild points here and i thank you all for your input .

Maybe i should just wait a while longer and see what the DX10 can do ?

That will probably be around 2-3 months time .

If a DX10 cards runs all my DX9C games fine with no issues then that is probably the way to go ,,if not that i will get another 7900GTX
