Upgrade advice

Hi probably in about a months time or even less I will be looking at buying a new motherboard cpu combo and even a new graphics card.

My current spec is

p4 2.4
2 gig pc2700 ram
160 gig hardrive
audigy soundblaster 2 zs
8smil mainboard
ati x800xl agp 4x
600 watt psu

Now I was wondering if their are any motherboards that do both agp and pci express so I can keep my x800xl for a while and purchase one of the dx10 cards when they come out.

I also dont know wether to go for amd or intel on this?

My budget is £300

The games I currently play our Bf2, Oblivion, css, guild wars but ill probably want to play the new bf2142 and other top titles in september.

as for the mobo i doubt there is one with agp & pci-e,

as vista isnt out till next year doubt dx10 cards will be out till then, i personally am going to wait a bit more time to save up some more $$

ah ok im probably best just getting an agp motherboard and a decent cpu to see me over because the this p4 2.4 and my crappy motherboard arnt doing my card justice and im struggling to keep 30fps in games :S

hmm seems i was abit wrong about dual mobos ive found one off aria.co.uk (under £40) and its conroe compatible

Asrock 775DUAL-VSTA Socket 775 PCI-E & AGP

so that kinda enables you to get the cheap *** cpus that are around at the minute and some nice ram.. think i might get this board for my other machine kinda enables me to use my old 9800xt

edit; that motherboard, maybe a pentium D 2.6, 1gb ram is around £180 and gives you the ability to upgrade to conroe if and when you want to,

LGA 775 for Intel Dual Core Pentium XE and Pentium D / Pentium 4 / Celeron D, supporting Conroe, Presler and Cedar Mill processors so alot of choice lol

If you are gonna get that board, you really ought to go with Conroe, since anything with the netburst architecture (Pentium 4, Pentium D, Celeron D) sucks ***. Unfortunately, I don't know of many places in the UK where you get a Conroe or even that motherboard...

overclockers.co.uk has the E6300 for £140
aria.co.uk has the e6700 for £400 / Also that mobo for under £40

if you read my 2nd post carefully you would have seen it :p

edit, dabs.co.uk E6300 for £125 inc VAT says in stock also

And as far as the overclockers.co.uk site, I have been hearing that they are actually out of stock, but it still says "In Stock" on their site...
