i wonder which programs you guys recommend me to get to watch the card, case temperature and things alike. also, aint there a program in which you can set the clock speed and generally manage your card?

I just ordered the same card and waiting for it to arrive. Are u planning on overclocking it more? Champion!!! These cards haven't been overclocked much in the factory(450 - 475mhz), u should get to 550mhz if u want

This is what u really want. Takes a more accurate temp.

You will need to look into cooling options if u want to overclock.

Rivatuna is a good overclocking program for nVidia cards.

Coolbits (a registry file) will let you overclock from the nvidia control panel. You should hit 550mhz on the core pretty easily, but as far as the memory goes, I don't know if you should overclock that. The memory was what was causing troubles for the 7900 series.

would you recommend going for the 550mhz right away, or in steps? if so, by what should I increase each time, and what should I watch out for except for temp and any crashes?

No you card may or may not go to 550mhz first try 500mhz then 525mhz then try 550mhz

Use the same principle on the memory aswell

some cards OC better than others so make sure you keep an eye on tempreture settings using coolbits you really dont want to be going over 70 Degrees C
