Re: Geforce 6800XT or Radeon X800GTO ?
Well, if you get a Sapphire x800gto off of newegg, you have a good chance of getting one with 16 pipes, instead of only 12. All the ones purchased recently from there have 16 pipes, actually, if the reviews are any indication.
The heat sink that comes on them is seriously deficient, though. People have reported upwards of 96c under full load.
I would almost never recommend an nvidia card over an ATI (I really like ATI) but if you don't want to buy an aftermarket cooler, and just want an easy to install card, I'd go for the 6800.
Where are you looking to buy one of those cards from, btw? -

Try go up to the new 7000 series from nVidia. They are superior to the 6000 series, which are getting rather old now (although they are still great cards). I got a 7600GT, and im very happy. I really dont like ATI, since i've got some bad personal experiences with it. But its all your choice.
I suggest 7600GT if you got the money for it.Comment

Well, now that I actually look at the 6800XT (don't know near as much about nvidia as I do ATI), it only has 8 pixel pipelines. That's not many by today's standard. I may change my vote to the x800GTO, despite it's problems.
I'm not sure where you could find a 7600GT for an AGP slot. I don't think they've been released yet, and I'm not sure on the official word.
When it is released, it'd probably cost near to it's PCI-E counterpart which is generally $160 or so. If you can afford that, I'd look at the deal Newegg has going on the Radeon x850Pro from Connect3D. It's got a $50 rebate on it, and you can unlock the last four pipes to give you 16, and even set it to x850XT speeds with no problem at all, like I did.Comment

Nvidia just released a 7600gs for agp, which can be found on newegg. The gto still has better specs, so i say go with the x800Originally posted by Neat_HedgehogI'm not sure where you could find a 7600GT for an AGP slot.
