Who here is using an AMD Athlon 64X2 3800+ AMS and how much of an improvement can I expect after using an AMD Athlon XP 2800?

I'm not, but I would assume a minimal increase in BF2's performance.

I have one and they work very well. They can overclock nicely also from what I'm told.

Not yet, I've read in articles you can get them to 2.6 or 2.4 don't remember which one. I've overclocked my vid card and will be doing the same to my CPU after I figure it out.


Have you overclocked your processor? Any tips?

The 2800XP is quite an old processor, and it think it uses a 133 FSB. The 3800X2 uses a 200FSB. So if you coupled the 3800X2 with a decent graphics card, then yes you would see an improvement.

Actually my cousin just picked one up for cheap on newegg, OC pretty nicely too, didnt look at the stepping, but i hit 2.6 stable with value ram @ 216, and 1.4 volts.

That is in regards to the 939 socket. I was talking about AM2 socket(windsor).

I just got mine today. The first thing I did was check out the steppings.

the 06 steppings are hitting 2.8ghz and higher on aftermarket cooling. This makes me extremely happy. I can't test it yet as I need a gpu and ram before I can.
