Radeon X800pro?

So my old fx5200 is not cutting it. It's lagging on low local kid wants to sell me a Radeon X800 pro for 100 bucks and said it will run every thing on high with all the extras maxxed out. is this a good deal i can't find info on this card.

OC'ed to 2.2ghz
512 ddr(3200)gona add a 1gig stick here soon

fx5200 is oced core is at 300 memory clock is at 345

OK I'm running a 9800 pro and I think in the futur I too will have to upgrade. I see some lag problems even though I'm running 2.5 gigs of ram....... :)

The X800 represents good bang for buck. You need more RAM for better textures though.

well there is gona be a complete rebuild this x-mas or sooner i am going to a socket 939 dual core 2.2ghz that will be watercooled(have most of the parts laying next to me) with and good oc with at least 2.5gigs of ram and a sound card. the we will see about a newer card besides this card i am getting

buy the way does that sound like a ok deal?

It sounds an OK deal. Is it a straigh X800, X800 Pro, X800XT, or X800 XT PE. Performance varies greatly per version (STD. X800 is lowest).

Yeah. Its an OK deal, not fantastic but better than anything you'd spend $100 on new. I just got an X800XT PE for $150 new which is a much quicker card.

i dont get it i have an x1600 pro with 512 video memory and icant run on all high is a x800 better than an x1600?

Yup, it is. The X800 was the high end card of ATI's last generation, the X1600 is the mid level card from the current generation. And the fact your card has 512MB of ram on it is irrelevant as the chipset of your card will never utilise that much memory.

Remember, when buying a graphics card, its the digit 3 back from the end that matters (i.e. 6800GT over 7600GT, X800 over X1600, etc). If the card has a number lower than a 5 as the 3rd number from the end, its going to suck *** and be a waste of money.

Write up a basic contract that says that if it is DOA or dies within a week he will give you your money back.

Have some partents sign it as witnesses (assuming you are a kid).

No point in getting hosed out of a C-note because some twerp sold you his formerly overclocked trashed video card.

But in reality the 7600GT is better than the 6800GT so that is false. Also the 7300GT is a a little better than a 6600GT thus proving my point further.

X1600 is considerd low end now, but like mlkmnz said the card can't utilise it's 512mb of onboard video ram. Keep in mind that the x1600 is newer and has newer technologies (SM 3.0) while the X800 does not.

lol. Try turning on HDR on Oblivion (SM3) at any decent res with an x1600 and watch the slideshow begin. I'd prefer to have an x800/x850 (or 6600/6800) pushing better frames than an x1600 that is technically capable of doing complex lighting effects that you'd never, ever consider actually using with such mediocre card.

The x800pro will not run your game with all settings at high! if you do, then the card will give you low fps " less than 20" or if not, it will overheat... but if you want to run the game at medium with a few settings on high, then good, oh wait do you have 1gb of ram?

Lol, I have a radeon X800PRO PCI-E And run all high @ 1280x1024 @ 2xAA and get 60+FPS.

But, what is holding you down in your processor. Lol, I know about socket A, great clockers, but the architecture is old. Try upgrading the rest of your system too.

If you can get that card for 100Bucks, its a good deal.
