Logitech G5 worth it?

Would it be worth getting a high end mouse if i play at 1024x768? Or do you only see a real difference at 1280x1024 and up?

what does screen resolution have to do with anything?

I have the G5 its a great mouse, 5 customisable sensitivity settings which are great if your a sniper as you can put them on low when you have a target and great then your a tank driver as you can set it high and get your turret round a little faster.

the extra mouse buttons are great also, thumb button and left/right middle mouse buttion.

The only downside is the middle mouse buttion is hard to push however I just set it to the right-middle mouse button instead.

I have no idea what the mouse has to do with res either, but i also have the G5 and it is the best mouse i have ever used, hands down. And yes, the middle button is kind of akward, but i never use it for anything so its cool with me.

I didnt think it mattered either, but i read on here people talking about the mouse working better with higher resolutions and such? And i'm not getting them confused with the mouse resolutions.

Personally don't see how that would make a difference. Love the logitech mice. I have the MX1000 and nothing but rave reviews from me.

Depends what you want todo, if you go Wireless I reccomend the MX1000, and wired MX518. Best gaming mouses I've ever used/seen.

Why would you get the 518 when you could get the G5..... And if you were going wireless, i say mos def go with the G7. Its more geared towards gamers.

And when your talking about higher resolutions working better, they might be talking about the dpi ersolution on the mouse. For example, to gt the best out of your mouse, your supposed to set the sensitivity in the games menu to the lowest setting, then you set the settings on your mouse till its comfortable. fior somereason, that takes advantage of the mouse's tech the most.

Yes. The monitor's res has nothing to do with the mouse.

G5 is a laser mouse (more sensitive, newer tech) and is newer than the 518. In real life, 12 bucks is nothing, so if you're getting a wired mouse, go for the g5.

And actually, on newegg.com right now, the G5 is 40$, and the 518 is 41$, so that should be a no brainer.

Well the 518 is 34 with free shipping on Amazon, while the G5 is 40, plus shipping, plus tax since i live in CA. I really have no problem paying the extra amount, its just i dont see it as justifiable. Its laser technology, but does it make a difference if both mice are set to 1600dpi?

Actually, scratch everything, after browsing tigerdirect, i just found that they're selling the G7 for 33.99 rebate included. :)

The 'PC Gamer' magazine did a small review on the G5 and they said it was one of/the best gaming mouse ever.

i like my g5. i use the thumb button for zooming the map. so i can see the the uav scan accurately for enemies. becos pressing tab amazingly zooms out the map also. wonder if that could be disabled.

Screen resolution does not matter. If you have a mose like MX500/510/518, Razer Diamondblack/Plasma/Chopperhead dont buy the G5. Otherwise its realy worth it, great mouse :)
