Computer Tweaks and lower 3DMARK06 Score?

I uninstalled my old drivers used regsupreme to delete the registrys, Installed 91.32 (My old ones were like 85.something). I think I did a couple other tweaks ( but I forget what they are though :p)

Ran 3DMARK06 got

3982


Then I dusted using compressed air, started up my computer ran 3DMARK06 again and only got

3975

I lost 7 points by getting rid of dust? (isnt that supposed to be good) any idea?

lol, you thought dusting would give you a better score. :laugh:
3dmark is very tricky. Ive never gotten the same score twice, and one time when i ran it back to back, the second time i scored 200 lower, so you cant say that it will always be consitant. Just dont even worry about it.

I thought maybe it would give me like 1 more extra point it was more just to see how much better then 91.31 was :p

Your worried about 10 points in 2D mark? Don't worry - it can fluctuate as much as +/-150 marks.

I get the best 3dmark scores on 84.21 drivers, I tried the 91.31s but they gave lower scores, and were far too buggy, so I rolled back to the 84.21s.

3DMark, as with any other computer benchmarking program, is inconsistant. Allow 100 points sway each time you test.

And dusting will do nothing to improve performance.

If you have extreme amounts of dust in your comp on things like heatsinks, the dust acts as a blanket and keeps the heat in the metal, resulting in overheating.

Thats exactly what I thought with is why I thought cooler temps = better computer = better score.

No, your computer is still running at the same clock speeds. Sure, it might be cooler and more reliable(and better that way) but you're still running the same speed computer.

try nivida n tune i got like 50+% increase in performance

havnt tried 3d yet tho?and its the first time ive ever used it but u seee you speed going up and up:p
