Well, I just found out that I cannot get broadband where I am moving too. My only highspeed option is satellite which means my BF2 days are over. Oh, well it was a good run. Was hoping to at least make 2nd Louie.

See if wireless broadband is available in the area you're moving to.

Well, I don't know where to check or who would offer it. And I will go with Satellite so I least I can download and surf. I would not of thought that this day and age there are areas that can't get broadband. The price of Satellite is rediculus. I have direct tv already, but the internet service is 600.00 up front and 60/per month. THIS SUCKS.Comment

When I moved...I made sure that wireless was available in my area. I hadn't even heard of it, but I researched the subject and came up with some good info.
It's just like DSL and sometimes even better
Just do a Google search or contact a few ISPs in the area where you're moving and ask them if they offer wireless or somebody who does.
I found my WISP (wireless internet service provider) through a radio ad

Yes, while satellite may have decent speed and be good for downloading and web surfing it is not good for games because of the latency.Originally posted by TalusComment

What is the difference between Broadband access and National access, and , can I put a wireless card in my desktop, I don't have lap top. And yes, yes, yes, I know all about the latency of satellite, I believe I stated that my BF2 would be over. There is a two second delay for the signal to travel there and back (about 45,000 miles) which would give a new meaning to lag.Thanks for the input though.

Yeah, check http://dslreports.com for a WirelessISP in that area, that's what I have and its not too shabby.. 2Mbit down/1Mbit up for like $54 a month.. and about 20ms ping to any texas server

I get 5 MBit service, unlimited down/up, latency has 25 ms built in to first hop.
This is wireless using a Motorola Canopy 5.7 GHz radio.
It's free for me because I am hosting via 802.11 on a second tower to my neighbourhood

You don't even need a wireless card.
For my wireless access I have a radio on my roof. The radio has a cable that runs down into my house and then I have a power injector that gives power for PoE (power over ethernet). That now-powered ethernet cable plugs into my regular ol' router. The router then connects to the PC.Comment
