Is such a high graphics card temperature (90C) normal?

    Hello all,

After fixing all the problems with the game for me I went and played it for just over an hour and found that my graphics card GPU temperature went from 69 (when i was on desktop) to 91 Degress C (when i exited the game) I was hoping someone could tell me if such a high temperature was normal and also if its safe for my card?

    My card is a GeForce 6200 LE 256MB (PCI-E)
    Using newest Nvidia drivers.

I am not in a position to increase the cooling to my system by adding fans etc but I just wanted to know if there is a time limit that I should play the game before exiting to cool the card down a bit before it busts.

I hope that it will work cooler the rest of the year but at the moment its running in the middle of the british summer.

Ehh..I dont know much about temps but I think thats really high...And no it could be potentially threatening to your card...Get some more case cooling or open it a little to get better airflow

That is pretty hot, but I would check with Nvidia to see the threshold on the temp. GPU's do run a tad hot anyway, but that maybe too much. Have you taken the card out to get the dust out of the fan/heatsink? Also curious what your room temp is in the computer area.

Mine runs 45C.. 90 C is beyond some tolerances like CPU's for example.

Did you blow the dust out of your case?

Im sure that the fan is working, i only bought the PC in april so its new, the Nvidia display settings page shows the following info:

                    Core Slowdown Threshold
                    Degress: 145 C

GPU Core Temperature 78 C (While not ingame right now)

Temperature Level (box) 78 Degrees (3 Green + 1 Yellow Bar)

The room temperature is at least in the high 20's C as its right in the middle of summer, it could be as hot in doors at the mid 30's.

That seems way hot on your idle, mine is at 35c sitting, and my full load is at 53c. Must be clogged with dust, thats my guess, or your fan is dying.

thats hot but i don't think that its that bad. my 7800 GT has threshold of
115C and idle of 45/46C but looking at your threshold you should be fine... however that is for slowdown so it could still damage the card. I'm no expert but one of my friends broke a graphics card due to overheating so a good clean getting rid of dust or new fan may be worthwhile.

Nah, MUCH higher than 150F prob around 190-200, what everybody should know about celcius is that 0C equals 32F, freezing temp for water, and 100C equals 212F, boiling point for water. If you think about it, the Celcius scale is a lot more logical than the fairenheit scale lol. And yes, 90 C is way too hot.
