There is two reasons that i could think of to be logical to release X6800s first.

1. Everybody will be caught in the hype, and everybody will want conroe, and the X6800 is the only one out there, so many people will buy it, this will get Intel richer, as people are going for the expensive model.

2. What thunderpoint says.

So either way, it's a 'win win' for intel.

Maybe from a demand standpoint they want to be sure the lower end models have more stock available before release. More people are going to want a low end model than an Extreme.

Yea, I read that, but Anandtech's the only one reporting that, so I'm not sure if I entirely believe them. No point in releasing the X6800 before everything else.

They're released on July 27th, and there will be plenty on that day.

I heard only the X6800 is coming out on the 27th, and that the rest were coming out at like August 7. Anyways, Flanker, why the hell don't you come to FG?

Thats the release for the X6800. The others will be available August 7th.

Intel Core 2 Extreme processor based systems and boxed product are expected to be available on the day of launch, 27 July. Intel Core 2 Duo processor based systems and boxed product [through places such as Newegg] are expected to be available from 7 August.

The X6800 could be had last night for $1300 if you were quick on the purchase button, but Intel made retailers pull them from their sites.

The only review that shows the difference that us who don't run high end dual graphics systems would see by going with Conroe.

If you have a good socket 939 system I don't see the point of upgrading, but if you are in need of an upgrade then Conroe is the way to go. Of course you won't be able to get any until August.

Haha, its true, I spent all night reading it. And then I was on my home forum, where I've actually had the largest arguments with people. I was rubbing it in their face and stuff yesterday, good stuff. <3

say having two 7900gtx in sli and then putting them togehter with amd athlon 3000+. The cpu would not let the gpus go to there max potential. the conroe is a little overkill for alot of peoples cards, trufually if ur not buying two of the fastests cards, then go go nuts on conroe, a 6800gt will likely play the same on a conroe as i does on a 3000+.

Yea, but usually the other way around, in very graphically demanding games, the GPU bogs down and the CPU doesn't realy matter much, as long as you have like a 3000+ or better, the graphics won't be affected by CPU. But on older games like CS, a newer CPU will help, as there is less need for grapihics. Anyways, check outt he xbit labs review, the E6300 is kicking SERIOUS butt.

Is a +3800 a good match with a X850XT or a 7600GT?

Or how about a 7900GT or a X1800XT?

What does bottlenecked mean anyway? And what makes it happen? What combo of hardware?
