This may be a pretty stupid question, but what are the chances of finding a Conroe motherboard with an AGP slot?

Im sick of being forced into entire system upgrades when all I want to do at the moment is a mobo and CPU.... I dont have $400 for a new PCIe video card.

Meh, AGP is an especially terrible thing to have ATM. I know, I have one too. I'll be building a whole new system.

As for AGP Conroe motherboards, I can't really say either way. Are there AGP motherboards for LGA775 right now? If there are, then there probably will be AGP Conroe motherboards, if there aren't, then I would highly doubt it.

There IS a certain budget sector that will be getting the E6300, so maybe.

I guess I'll limp through the end of the year on this old rig and see what prices and such look like come Christmas Bonus time...

I really want to upgrade but there's no way Im doing a CPU/MOBO/RAM and Video Card right now... screw it.

Not just better scores than AMD but look at the dominance over netburst. If you have a netburst P4-PD upgrading to the conroe is a good investment.

For someone who mainly plays video games (much like myself),

I'll just stick with s939 and AMD. If I can buy a system that will run BF2 all high for ~$600, that's fine with me.

Everyone knows Intel pretends it has processors that don't really exist. For instance check out this THG article about a Northwood core, 533mhz FSB, 3.33Ghz, and 3.6Ghz processors. Here they bench them in games and build Intel up to be so great. Then what happens? They never even got released. Did they ever even exist? Will it also be the fate of Conroe? I'll believe it when I see it...

Yea, those are OLD benchies, they don't even have A64s on there, forget the past, intel already has like 3.6ghz dual core (although a AMD x2 4600 is still better).

Why would intel not release C2D? They know they have to do something to stay alive in the market. Also I am 100% sure we will see C2D cpus in the next few weeks. Also if you have not heard some online retailers already have stock of a few conroe cpu's only they were removed by request by intel to wait for the release date. Have you been reading that AMD blog site or something?

Why would I read an article that is over 2+ years old? Back in the northwood and athlonXP days? This is about today and tomorrow Intel can't afford not to ship C2D it would be suicide. Just because you read an article thats years old does not mean it will repeat it's self here in 2006. Maybe the samples were sample models then later renamed and or had new features added to them. Extremeoverclocking.com had people with C2D cpu's months before the NDA.

Trust me this will not flop.
