The X800 runs only at 400 MHz compared to the 500 MHz of the X1600, but it runs on DDR3 instead of DDR2

My system:

Athlon 64 3200+ running at 2.2 MHz
9800 XT 256 MB AGP running at 370/830
Asus Deluxe Motherboard AMD Athlon 64 chipset
1 Gigabyte of Corsair DDR Value Select Ram

As reference, my system runs BF2 now at all medium settings, 100% view distance, and with no anti-aliasing...I'm not sure what it is.

i dont think you can better on that performance by upgrading your graphics,

you would need a PCI-e card which would intail a whole new Motherboard/Processor/Graphics, you might be able to keep the Ram

The x800 is better than the x1600, memory clock, interface and transfer are faster on the top end of the old line than on the medium on from the new line
