Unless you hold out for a little longer and get an Nforce570 prices range from 150$-80$. You can also find a 965 MB in newegg for a good price, Sorry I can't help you now since I am on my way to work.

Hmm? the DX10 cards will cost tons at release..

There was a topic about this..

A few agreed buying a mid-range card now (around 7600) and buying a DX10 later is a good idea

*later* - as in not this Christmas but next Chrismas.... more options, less problems, lower prices

DX10 should be compatible with most cards al the way down too onboard video, because not everyone is gonig to play graphical demanding games such as BF2.

I see it as being perfect for my price, needs, and compatible with everything...
It is compatible (video card, hard drive, cpu, and all), right?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the 975 is dual GPU, and the 965 chipset is single GPU mobos in the price range he is looking for.

However, I do not know if there is a special version of 965 or whatnot. I'm totally new to Intel stuff and still learning. But I am pretty sure I read that somewhere.

The 975 supports Crossfire but not SLi. For SLi, you'll have to wait untill nVidia release its 570/590 SLi intel edition chips.
As for DX10 cards, you will also have to fork out for Windows Vista to take advantage of their DX10 abilities, as DX10 won't be released for XP (probably).
