USB problems

Ever since I reinstalled Windows XP Pro on my computer, I have not been able to see USB devices in My Computer. I've searched up for hours on Google/Microsoft to try and find a solution to this.

I've tried remapping the drive letter but a restart just takes it away again. The only way I can access the drive is through Disk Management. I don't mind doing this for my USB Drive but I can't update my iPod at the moment because it's not detected.

I've downloaded all the latest drivers (Chipset/Video/Sound) and BIOS updates available and now i'm at a dead end. Can anyone help me out?

What version of Windows XP Pro are you running? And is it legitimate or a copy?

It's genuine, double checked with the Windows Diagnostic Tool.

Go into your hardward device manager and delete the USB controls and let them reload when you refresh or restart.

That didn't work, I deleted the USB controls and they reloaded at restart, but the drives still don't appear in My Computer. I tried TweakUI PowerToys to see if it was hiding my drives but it's not.

And you're running SP2?

Yes, i'm running SP2. I've gotten all the latest updates from Microsoft.
