Cheapest worthwhile replacement for a 9800 Pro?

I'm wondering, as the subject line says, what would be the cheapest worthwhile replacement video card out there for improved BF2 performance compared to my Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro (8x AGP, 128 MB RAM)?

Other details about my system: Pentium 4 3.0E @ 3GHz w/ 800 MHz FSB, 1GB (2x512MB matched set) of PC3200 DDR RAM, and 400W PS.

Right now, I run at all medium settings, 2xAA, 90% draw distance @ 1280x1024 resolution (native res for my LCD monitor) with satisfactory results. I'm not sure what framerate I'm getting, but I've never had performance issues.

Any recommendations for inexpensive upgrades to further improve performance? Thanks in advance!

adding onto Sir. Bobs question, does your motherboard have PCI-e or PCI-x capabilities? or is it just have an AGP slot?

Tech tip for the day, he's asking for a replacement for a 9800 which would be AGP only (unless he has an Asrock Dual board (has both agp and pci-e)).

AGP only. As far as cheap, I'll toss out $100-$150 as a number. Probably a crazy number... but I remember when I built this PC 2.5 years ago, the Radeon cost me $170.

Theres no sence on upgrading that system anyways, and with that budget u would maybe be able to buy an x800xl or gto version, both very cheap with good performance.

Why does everyone have to a smartass in these forums?

continuing on, i know the 9800 Pro is an AGP card, Tech tip for the day: nowadays, agp is quickly becoming inferior to the pci-monsters.

A worthwhile replacement for a 9800 Pro AGP could very well be a cheaper model PCI card. Seeing how he has AGP only though, his best bet would to go onto www.pricewatch.com and look at some of the online vendors there for a card with higher clock speeds and more pipelines, etc.

And how pray tell would ANY pci (operative word here being PCI, not PCI-E) card be better than a 9800 Pro?

because the various video card companies have learned how to restructure and change the architectual (sp?) design of the pci cards themselves.

Please, go boost your ego somewhere else, let's both just try and help this guy find a solution. Im not trying to argue, im just trying to help. Please try and do the same....

You're right, this isn't helping the OP, but lets see this all mighty PCI card that is better than the 9800 Pro.

for clarification: as i just now recently reviewed my posts, i've discerned that this is a simple, yet ultimately harrowing communication error, as i failed to clarify when i say pci, i mean the newer generation pci cards (e.g. pci-e and pci-ex). Apologies stormy. Let's see if we can't find this guy a card?
