I just recently bought a Pentium 4 631, but i was wondering if i made a bad choice, i saw these Pentium D's that are just about the same price such as this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116238 and i was wondering if i should have gotten the Pentium D or if my pentium 4 was a good choice. both have 64-bit and are socket 775, but the D does not have hyper-threding, but its is dual core, so ill let you guys decide.

Sorry mate, but i dont think your mobo is compatible with Pentium D.Originally posted by Sir. MrWobblesok, i think im gonna get a pentium D, now will my motherboard handle it?

And to the other guys, Pentium D does not have HT, only the EE have HT. You might be confuse that you see two cores in the windows task manager. It is not because of HT, that is because Pentium D has two actual cores, not HT.Comment

Re: Pentium D or Pentium 4
Really, cause that's what i also did. I'll go double check, i did look rather quick. I hope i am wrong that way you can get the dual core chip.Originally posted by Sir. Which one is yours the P4M80 PRO-M7C
or the PT880 PRO-A7C
Cause the link you provided is for the A7C which it might not be dual core compatible, at least the website does not say that.
If is the first one, then yeah, it is compatable according to the website, i do recommend getting the latest bios before you pull out the single core cpu to change it for the dual core.Comment

I take it something must be off with your bios. Technically the Pentium D is still a P4, but it should not have HT. When was the last time you updated your bios???
