If I were to build another computer...

I built up these myself. Every price and link is from Newegg. I tend to shop cheaply.

I just did this for fun, I have no intention of actually building this. Not enough money.

I need comments, on where I can save money or get more performance for when I do build a computer. Thanks!

Also, how much would I spend if I bought this computer from a manufacturer?

    sounds good :)

but whats a geforce 7950? never heard of it :p and do u really need a floppy drive?

my guess is that the computer itself, if that GPU is top of the line currently, would prob cost $2000+ given the specs u listed

    do u really need a 3.8ghz cpu?

Eh it's a 2 ghz AMD, not a 3.8ghz CPU. 3800 is the model number.

          Thanks for the tips.

Geforce 7950 = http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125035 its basically a dual core GPU

I'd say you do need a floppy drive, quite a few bios related things and OCing related things are best done with floppys, plus they are so cheap it would be silly not to.

Re: If I were to build another computer...

i dont think u need to have floppy drives. and 7950 are known to have alot of problems now. dont recommend it yet. its performance can sometimes be worse than a 7900gtx sli. and u will not be able to use the gfx card unless gigabyte come up with a bios update for it. im not sure whether they have it yet, but im sure the asus A8N already has that 7950 update.
and are you sure u wanna go for 939? am2 is out already and it retailing for around the same price as the 939 series.
and that psu is no good. try choosing from this list.

sound card, if u go for the x-fi series, u can put eax in bf2 on and on ultra-high settings.
and if u get 2 sata hdd, u can put them on a RAID 0 for about double the performance.
and for the os, x86 is jus the instruction set. jus go to the shop and ask for Win XP 64-bit version, they will know what it is.

He'll need the floppy drivers to install the SATA drivers for the XP install.

Unless XP now comes with them on the CD?
