    Re: Video Card Question

It's not that much better. It's been a while since I saw a direct comparison, but I think the 6200 might actually be better, or atleast the same.

As for playing BF2, expect Med settings with 30FPS on 1280x1024.

Then there's something wrong, because thats worse than a FX5200. I should know, I had one.

Um... the 9800 pro is absolutely better than a 6200. The 9800 pro is between a 6600 vanilla and 6600 GT in performance.

Naaaah, 6600 has to be better than the 9800Pro.

Although now I'm sure I was wrong about the 6200.

Buy a 6800GT. everything is set to max with 100% distance and 4x antialiasing.

It's not. I've had both in my possesion and the 9800 pro is slightly better. See for yourself:

I have to agree with wreck on this one. I had a 9800 Pro for a while and that card performed excellent for its time. I have tried the 6100, which isn't that far from a 6200, and the 9800 pro outdid it by miles.

I stand corrected (even though you showed a game in which they were close in performance; other games showed a much larger difference).

I'll submit that the 9800Pro is indeed a much stronger card than the 6200, that's clear. I'm still not convinced on the 6600 vs. 9800Pro though. Those might be the same, as a best case scenario for the 9800Pro.

And other games showed a smaller difference and even the 9800 pro beating the 6600 GT in one instance.

The 6600 GT was better than the 9800 pro in each game by:

                        Doom 3: + 28
                        CSS: + 18
                        UT 2k4: -2
                        Halo: + 17
                        Far Cry: + 4
                        Wolfenstein ET: + 3
                        BFV: + 24
                        Sims 2: + 2

Here's some more head to head action:

go get a 7300GS, definitely works better than all those cards. costs about US$50 i think.
