Agree on waiting for Conroe, whether you buy Conroe or not...AMD prices plummet after it launches.

Disagree on 7600gt. What is he going to do with a 7600gt until DX10 comes out? We've got many months until then, perhaps as much as 6 months.

I'm sure he would want max gaming eye candy that a 7600gt cannot provide right now. I'm talking maxed AA's and AF's, not almost. 7600gt won't cut it.

And with the budget he proposed, I'm sure he can take the little loss of selling the card he does choose...but in the meantime he cant have much more than the 7600gt provides. I'd say the 7900gt instead...then DX10 super card.

Or grab an x1800xt which can be found for around $230 after rebates right now.

Remember, the card you buy now is only temporary...until DX10 when you buy the really massive card you want.

G80 (DX10) is in September/October, not next year.

But yea, he has the money, so he should get the best he can. He should then sell the 7900GT and get even more money.
