Teamspeak help for a noob...

to cut a long post short, i brought a mic and headset today and have had aload of my clan mates telling me to download teamspeak even though i barely know what the hell it is lol...so i go on the website and see client teamspeak and server teamspeak..so i download server teamspeak cause i wanna talk with others over my clan server....Now what?? the teamspeak website is a load of ****e..how do you use this program and what exactly does it do..if you can talk in noob language that would also help...

First of all you have to download the Client NOT the Server Download. Then install the CLIENT VERSION then go to connect at the top then Quick Connect and Put in your Clans Server IP, your Nickname you would like to be recognized as. If your Clan server has a Password put that in the PW section. Then click connect. Once in the server go to Settings at the top then Sound Input/Output settings click Push to talk Press SET and press the key you would like to talk with (You have to hold down this button in order to talk) Thats about it.

You need the client version of teamspeak. The server version is meant for people that are going to run their own server. Get the client, install it, then you can join your clanmates in any specific teamspeak server.

thanks for your helpful replys... i have just uninstalled server and will now install client. Anymore pieces of advice...also, what is the difference between teamspeak and VOIP...i don't really see the point of it when BF2 provides VOIP...can someone please clarify..Thanks again.

They are both the same its just that VOIP in BF2 has less quality When someone talks so while your in Teamspeak voices will probably sound Clearer. Although my Clan uses GameComm and it has Better quality then Teamspeak probably around the Same quality as Ventrilo maybe even better but Teamspeak I would say is the worst of all the VOIP's out there (Besides the BF2 VOIP) Ok I think I just went off on a rant there......

TS is handy for a few reasons:

1. communicating outside of BF2. Like if you need an IP address or ask what team you they are on, or congratulate guys on medals between rounds. That sort of thing.

2. Communicating with multiple squads. If you are in a clan, this will be the most handy because you will proabably have more than one squad running at any given time. I find it is useful so that we don't double up on squads attacking a base unless it is needed.

3. Making fun of morons in your squad that are not in your TS. Childish? Yes, but you had better get used to it, because your clanmates probably already do it. Actually, when we have to kick a person to make more room in a squad, I want to know who is performing the best and who is following orders and I don't always want them to hear...sometimes I do.

4. Technical problems. Sometimes VOIP is not the most appropriate forum to ask your clanmates tech questions. You can create different channels to discuss different things.

There are some more complicated things you can do with TS like channel commanders where all channels can hear them, but people in different channels cannot hear each other. It is basically a tool designed to organize the chaos of online voice chat.

I think you will probably like it.

very useful, thanks alot KS..the more i hear about teamspeak the better it sounds..just hope its not too complicated to use lol

Why??? it helps the teamwork aspect of the game and saves the time and risk of death of having to stop and type a message. If you don't like it in-game then don't join a squad thats using it..
