So in a gaming PC how crucial is it to have the best processor? for instance for BF2 its about the graphics and the memory? so would it matter if you had say a amd 4000 or a FX60? would there be a difference?

In any situation in gaming it really depends on your video and your ram, but for example if you had a single core cpu and a dual core you would notice the diference but its only slightly, basiclly dual core allows you to do more things at one time, so unless your playing bf2 and world of warcraft or something at the same time its not really essensial. But aren't the FX cpu's dual core? Im pretty sure they are so if your 4000+ is single core the FX would beat the 4000+ just because overall the CPU is beter. I noticed in your sig you have a 3.4 GHz CPU, that would be the last thing you need to upgrade, id go GPU or RAM first. (I dont know if you were thinking about upgrading but if you were thats my opinions.)

the ONLY dual core FX processors is the 60, and the 62. (the 53, 55 and 57 are SINGLE CORE).
A Dual core processer will help calculate game calc.s faster as well as let you do more things at once with less computer-laggage. A faster processor in general will help with FPS in the sense that it does background work better, but also there are games that are very CPU intensive. For example:
If you compare an Athlon 3200+ to a Athlon 3800+ in BF2, with the same video card and RAM, the difference would be VERY minimal.
But if you compared a 3200+ to a 3800+ in F.E.A.R the different would be much bigger. FEAR is a very CPU intense game. It depends on what you wanna play.Comment

yeh well see bf2 is not a processer hungry game. only 1.7 needed to play is nothing. This game is more bout the ram and gfx card. For example fear, tht **** takes atleast 2.2 ghz to run so.Comment

thats the minimum for both. the processer can still bottleneck BF2, but just not as close to as much as FEAR.Comment
