    Problems with graphics

    specs:
    amd 3700 sandiego
    dfi lanparty ultra-d
    evga 7800GT
    1gb OCZ platinum rev. 2

I'm beginning to experience artifacts while playing. It doesn't happen that much, but occasionally i'l lget artifacts popping up. I tried changing drivers, and that made it better, but they still happen. The strange thing is, i've never had this happen before, but i jut reformatted my pc, installed the exact same driver set as i had before format, and now it starts happening. Any clues as to what could be wrong?

Also, did you overclock your 7800GT?

no reason you should be seeing artifacts.

        1) defrag hd
        2) clean out your pc with a can of compressed air (blow out your vid card, but be especially careful)
        3) may be time to reinstall windows??? when was your last install?

i agree with ^ though. sounds like a temp issue. make sure your comp & card are clean and getting fresh air. summer can be tough on electronics.

ok update to lastes drives and patches.

Secondly open the sidepanle and blow a desk fan in and see if it happens then (also it blows the dust away if its big enough).

Also depending on ur pcs age take off all the heatsinks give it a good clean and then apply new thermal paiste (i do this once a year)!

your graphics card could be faulty i got a x1900xt which had a fault i think the fan wasnt working properly

            1. you could update your drivers
            2. you pc could be overheating/or just the card

Also don't forget overclock. if i overclock too far, i get artifacts.

A couple of those did occur to me, such as overheating. But why would that happen after reformatting and not before? Mind you, I've never had this problem. I didn't have artifacts the day before i reformatted, and i did the day after. I should mention one more thing which I don't know if it's a problem or not. I recently purchased a tv tuner card, and when i installed it i had problems, and eventually bsod. I noticed both the vid card and tuner were on the same IRQ channel. the only other pci slot i had was taken up by my audigy2 zs. I switched the tuner and the audigy, so now the audigy is on the same channel as the video card. Would this cause any potential problems?
