x1900xt vs 7900gt

Hi i bought a x1900xt but the card was broken and i was getting artifacts all over the place and i was wondering if it was that it only just fit in my case so i want a graphics card about the same size as my 7600gt which means 1 slot pls can you recommend 1?

p.s. i was thinking about getting a 7900gt will this be good maybe 2 of them in sli?

A 7900gt is good, but not as good as the 1900. And SLI is a waste and not worth the money put into to is unless you run super high resolutions.

Not to say the 7900gt is a bad card, quite the oppisite, but it's not as good as the 1900.

what he said. the x1900 can do HDR and AA same time. 512mb memory, and can be flashed to an XTX. AVIO tech. return it and get a new one, it should be fine it might have been a bad card.

There is no comparison in performance, X1900XT pwns the 7900GT, a more fitting comparison for price and performance is the X1800XT.

Hi ok i just spoke to the guy from overclockers about returning my card and he said it didnt work because of my psu because it has 12v & 20a and the x1900xt requires 12v & 22a and he also said that my psu is for sli is all of this true pls help?

ok i have just spoke to him again and he said that i can not return it he said that he cant take used items back what am i supposed to do i have just wasted £300 :cry:

Was the card NEW when you bought it? If so, the manufacturer should provide warranty support if the retailer will not--in most cases.

Get out those little sheets of paper that came with the card (or download them if you threw them away) and find out what you need to do to get warranty support from the card mfg.

That's a weak PSU you got, just get a good PSU from trusted brand (enermax, OCZ, Antec, PC Power and Cooling etc.) that should solve your probs.

How long have you had the card? If it is under one week they MUST accept it back under the distance selling act, and give you a full refund as well as paying the postage costs (I think you must return it in an "as new" condition for this to work). IMO your PSU should be fine, it is possible that you spoke to a moron. Even if this guy says it is not broken they have to take it back anyway if you say it is, then they will do some testing on it and see if it really is broken. If it is you win and they send you a new card, if it isnt they probably will make you pay postage to send it back again, and a fee for testing it.

One time I bought a cheap PSU on teh interweb and it came DOA, well anywho I RMA'ed it and they claimed it was fine, well basically I told them I knew better and to **** off and take it back and they had to. Know your rights.
When you are negotiating keep mentioning that you spend a lot at their shop, if they realise that they might lose a customer it is very possible that they will kiss your ass pretty nicely.

Edit: Also I notice that OCUK dont state that the 1900xt will require a high level power supply. If that is the argument they pursue point out that this is not mentioned on their website. This could also be a violation of distance selling regulations.
More Edit: I am nigh certain that the guy you spoke to is a total douchebag, ask to speak to a manager or something and don't be put off, unless the PSU is actually failing I am certain it should be fine.
Even more edit: Another tactic you could try is to lie to them, tell them you tried it in a friend's PC and it doesnt work there either. Tell them he has a real nice PSU, something like one of the high end Enermax, Seasonic or Tagan PSU, and that its the same in his PC as yours.
If all else fails maybe threaten them with a case in the small claims courts using the OFT regulations Clicky.

I never SAID it was weak, simply the +12v rail is weak. A 20A +12v rail is UNACCEPTABLE. You should have DUAL +12v rail by now.

Lol, and i care why? The guy only said 20A, so that's what i went by, and no, i don't research PSUs, and yes, i'm too lazy to look it up, if that is the case, that guy that said you need a better PSU is just and idiot. and i have no idea what you should do.
