laptops these days are very much competitive with desktops. their CPU's are equal, if not superior clock for clock in gaming. (im serious, if clocked the same a core duo would hand a amd-fx's ass on a plate) and the video cards are not only almost equal to their desktop counterparts, but can run in SLI mode now too (on select 19" models). i got a year old dell 9300, 2gb, 1.6 PM (comparable to a 2.88 p4), 6800go, and a 17" 1920x1200 screen. runs bf2 on highest rest, all medium settings, or one below highest res, all high settings. only reason not to game on a laptop is its lack of upgradability, although you can upgrade ram, CPU, HD, and even the videocard in some cases.
