    Weird Problem

I bought BF2 about a week ago as well as a new PC. I have a Nvidia 6800 GS 256MB PCI-E graphics card, but whilst playing the game i have come across some annoying problems that make it unplayable. A screenshot is attached showing the problem, the polygons always come from other players both in multiplayer and singleplayer mode. I have up to date drivers for the graphics card. But i am also getting a totally unrelated problem - CMOS Checksum Bad message, which is quite annoying and needs to be sorted out as well.

If anyone knows what the cause of this is, i would be very grateful, thanks!

The drivers are up to date, the temp is around 60 degrees celcius. I have a feeling the card is faulty as when i clicked on a link IE, i got a VPU restart! The screen went black and then came on again. So is this is a graphics card error? Should i return it?

Check this out EA is trying to get rid of me!

        Hello,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts. I’m sorry for the difficulty that you are having with the game Battlefield 2.

One of the reasons why you receive this error is that DirectX 9.0c was not properly installed into your system or has been corrupted. We would like to suggest for you to download and reinstall a new copy of the DirectX 9.0c file, a link is provided for you
        (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx).

Please also try running the tests in your dxdiag.

        DDraw Test Result
        D3D7 Test Result
        D3D8 Test Result
        D3D9 Test Result

If you should experience the same error after reinstalling the new copy please contact Microsoft to further assist you with this issue.
But i shall try what they suggest.

While that could be the problem there could be an easier answer

I have the same problem sometimes since the 1.3 patch so before you return the card or buy additional cooling uninstall the game then reinstall and patch to 1.2 and see if the problem still occurs

                I have
                3.3ghz P4 800mhz FSb
                PNY 512mb pc2100
                Ati radeon 9600 256mb AGP

                    Re: Weird Problem

Well, this problem was occuring when i didnt have a patch and it is still occuring now that i do have one, so i dont think it is related to the patches. I have GTA San Andreas, but the graphics on that are fine, everything works nicely.

That means it is a game problem

If it was hardware it would do it in all games

But what about the VPU restart problem, isnt that to do with the graphics card?

Uninstall your graphics drivers and try a different version. Having them up to date means nothing if the version doesn't work correctly. If trying a different set of drivers doesn't work then return the card for a new one.
