I guess no one else picked this up, but the windows you picked out is the upgrade version. You would get that if you had windows 98 and wanted to move to xp. For a new computer and empty HD you'll need windows xp full. It would run $200 retail, but they're everywhere on ebay for less then $100.

You're wrong, all he needs is the oem version of xp home ($90) or pro ($140) off newegg. They both work fine and are the full versions. Also, never buy software off ebay, it's always a bad idea.

I'm pretty sure it is. I bought one of those thinking it was a full version and it started gonig and then it came up with the error saying there wasn't a previous version of windows (windows 98, 2000, etc.) If your looking to save money I would suggest watching ebay for a good quality seller with good reviews.

Of course, I have both oem versions of xp (home and pro), it's basically the full retail version without the box. Also, if there are no major hardware changes for 120 days, you can use the copy again on a new system.

b. My video card supports SLI doesn't another part need to?

c. I'm pretty sure those parts are the PSU and Motherboard?

Oh, SLI is a waste of money!! There will be a card out in a year or two that'll take on two of your cards and blow it away. And from what I've heard it's only a 30% increase in performance .

d. yes and no, the 450w SP2.0 PSU should do, the mobo is a 570 Ultra, not a 570 SLI chipset.

Yep, it's just a full retail copy of xp without the case.

Careful, for you PSU to support SLI or crossfire it must have two PCI-E power connectors, best to stick to a known SLI PSU.

Nah, most pcie cards come with adapters, if the psu is powerful enough the connectors won't be an issue.

First because Staples will generally be more expensive than an online-only retailer (unless there's a big sale or rebate). Second, an OEM Windows can only legally be sold along with a hardware purchase since it is intended for system sellers (but any hardware purchase is good enough to qualify). Also, while the retail Windows can be used for either a full install or an upgrade, the OEM will only do a full install I believe.

The oem should also do an upgrade, I've found it's always better to wipe the drive anyway.
