Cliff notes, he has a socket 775, i915p chipset, 1.5GB DDR, with PCI x16 slot, P4 2.8ghz + HT probably a prescott, ATI x300 video.

@ the OP, you can upgrade the graphics, thats probably the only thing you will need or want to upgrade right now. Go out and buy a 7600GT, x1800GTO, x1800XT, 7900GT card.... drop it in and it should work.

Your power supply might not be enough, but odds are it will function fine.

My vote is for a 7600gt. Save some money for when you get a whole new computer. And the 7600gt can play on all high as long as you don't play on too high of a resolution. Anything 1280x1024 or below ought to fine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130017

uhhh no? He has an agp slot.... that says that he has 1 pci-e x1 slot, not x16
Shotting down the idea of getting a good card->->->-> :ar15:7600gt

EDIT: and forget about getting an AMD processer. Its kinda not possible with your current mobo:)

I was puzzled over this as well, but the i915p chipset does not support AGP, my guess is that the documentation is dated and incorrect, they wrote AGP in place of PCI Express because at the time in 2004 they didnt have a PCIe lable in the system for the documentation.

Hmmm, mabey we should search for more specs on the comp elsewhere, ell if it does turn out being pci-e, then im all for the 7600gt. Id go with Evga if you end up doing that, the GT has one of the best price vs. performance ratios on the market. I wish i would of bought one

Ummm, no. A 7600gt is prob gonna tax his psu, a 7900gtx would kill it.

BTW What is the reccomended PSU size for a 7900GTX? Would a Thermaltake 430W work?

It needs at least a 400W power supply with 22 Amps on the 12V rail.

Depends on the card. To run on all high you need a 7600gt or higher.

I think it is hilarious that to run this damn game on high you need cards that didnt even exist on release. How I pine for 1.0
