Somebody please help I just installed (yesterday)a PNY Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS and now BF2 crashes, after I log in, or sometimes it won't even load.
My sys specs are as follows: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600), Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6. 00PG, AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.0GHz, 2046MB RAM, Page File: 316MB used, 1863MB available, DirectX 9.0c. Oh and my machine a Gateway (formerly Emachines D6417) has a 300W power supply and only one PCIe (8X) bus/slot. All other slots are PCI.
Display Specs: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS, 256.0 MB, and I installed the drivers which came out 2 days ago.
I know absolutely nothing about BIOS settings or clocking (overclocking) or any of the advanced processes that fixing this problem will force me to learn. I have no idea what's wrong here I have tried other games and everything was getting hung, for awhile my whole system was unstable. Please help the only reason I went out and bought a new card was for BF2, I am simply, hooked.
I have recieved two stop errors from windows which stated: Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078). I recieved one while attempting to load BF2 and one when playing a video interview from dice. Windows resolution is a) update drivers; I did. b.) Change hardware acceleration to none and enable write combining; which I will try but it seems to lack granularity and I didn't buy a GPU to limit my graphics!
