85 C after 5 mins

I ran a video card stability test and after 5 mins my 6800GT reached 85 C! Sometimes BF2 crashes randomly (just freezes and then comp reboots). But there are no problems with the graphics, no visual flaws that would of indicated that my vid card is overheating. Sometimes BF2 could run for days, and at other times it crashes in 5 mins. I guess the temps are causing the problems, but wouldnt there be some type of visual flaws with the game?

Specs:

3700+ Clawhammer
500W Vortecs
1.5 Gigs corsair XMS RAM
74Gig Raptor
K8N4-E deluxe mobo
EVGA 6800GT

Gonna buy a zalman heatsink along with some arctic silver - hopefully that will solve the problem.

Yes, you will usually see artifacts before it gets to the point of crashing if it is a heat issue.

my god that 200+ degrees are you sure your card hasnt melted.

You will find that chips can withstand a lot of head, Intel's P4's can withstand over 200C before shutting down the computer.

heh I used to have that problem all the time... I bought a few extra fans for some more airflow and then ended up just leaving the side pannel off :) seems to work ok now... hasnt booted me from the game since I did that

I would do what you said and get a big zalaman heatsik and fan and maybe add another fan or 2 to the case near the Graph card you can get 2 800mm fans on a bracket that fits over the expansion slots that may help as well

wow, 95C, that would crash bf2 long before that already. lol, u definitley need some from of gd cooling or u will find your computer parts have significantly decreased lifespan.

In BF2 and CS i never go higher than the 70s that program is very inaccurate!

I already have 2 80mm expansion slot fans running.

Gonna order the Zalman today.

In BF2 and CS i never go higher than the 70s that program is very inaccurate!

Dont do the benchmark, do the test - you get lower temps with that.
