Ok, i haerd from Xbit labs that there is gonna be ATi DX10 graphics cards as early as early 2007, Now i'm upgrading my computer in mid-august, and i would rather not upgrade again for at least a year-and-a-half. SHould i just get a crappy video card to bring to my other ocmputer in china and keep my X800XL for my current computer? then when DX10 comes out, buy a DX10 card, or should i just get a good DX9 card at mid august?

Re: DX10 question
vista is so biased. windows wants everyone to buy vista so they make dx10 only available on it. makes xp users

Yes, DX9 cards will all work in Vista, all games for a while are expected to run in both DX9 and DX10.Originally posted by Eddy01741So i can't run DX10 with XP, damn, can i run DX9 with vista?Comment

Re: DX10 question
Vista will have its own version of dx9 called dx9L, which is a streamlined version of dx9c. You'll get most of the goodies, but you won't be able to run full areo or play dx10 only games.Originally posted by Eddy01741So i can't run DX10 with XP, damn, can i run DX9 with vista?Comment

Re: DX10 question
im still wondering whether i should get the am2 mobo or the 939 ones, is the price difference very big? i saw reviews and benchmarks that put 939 on the lead becos it uses lower latency ddr memory rather than am2 higher latency ddr2 which is 'laggier' for gaming.
im also considering is the price premium for a 7900gtx justified compared to a 7900gt. is the performace to price ratio that big?
anyway, i think my pc will not play dx10 games that soon, still luv bf2... which is dx9.... :)Comment

Tighter timings for ram is good if you don't OC, but the fact that it uses a higher ram speed means that you can overclock better usually.Originally posted by vennyim still wondering whether i should get the am2 mobo or the 939 ones, is the price difference very big? i saw reviews and benchmarks that put 939 on the lead becos it uses lower latency ddr memory rather than am2 higher latency ddr2 which is 'laggier' for gaming.

Re: DX10 question
Eddy Im in the process of building a new PC right now and I will probably just go for a nice DX9 card. Nvidia wont have DX10 until the autumn and ATI not until the winter. Probably in around 18 months DX10 cards will be on their second or third revision and then I think it will be the most oppertune time to pick one up :) .Comment

Yea, i agree, if games don't need em yet, i won't buy em, plus, there might be bugs with the first line of cards.Originally posted by TokenBritEddy Im in the process of building a new PC right now and I will probably just go for a nice DX9 card.
