yes. how much of one I'm not sure but I believe that card in the same league as the 7600 series from Nvidia.

well, its not in the same league as the 7600, but its RIGHT below it, very close in performance.

it IS an improvement over the 6600gt for sure, but I dont know if it is worth it for the amount of improvement you get. I would probably get a 7600gt if you can.

got ya. Thanks Sacky. I'm not too up to date on the ATI cards. A friend just got an 1800 but I think they are like another $100.

First off, it's quite far from the 7600GT, if you still remember back then, this was the old generation line for nvidia:
6600<6800LE<6600GT<6800<6800XT<6800GT<6800Ultra


THen, after 7800series came out:
6600<6800LE<6600GT<6800<6800XT<6800GT<6800GS<6800U ltra<7800GS<7800GT<7800GTX

THen after the G71 and G73 cores came out:
6600<6800LE<6600GT<6800<6800XT<6800GS (Gt no longer available)<7600GT<7800GT<7800GTX<7900GT<7900GTX<79 50GX2

6600GT is quite far from 7600GT nowadays.

No use comparing to a 1600series, as al avid gamers know, X1600series sucks big time, compare the 6600GT to the 7600GT and look in awe and amazement of th difference. Anyways, the X1600series sucks for ATi, but the X1800series (mostly just eh X1800XT), and most of the X1900series are great.
