I could switch things around but I the final price must be around the same as now

If that monitor already has speakers does that meen I could just skip buying more speakers?

And if I stay with those monitor-speakers should I stay with that card or try something else..

dump the speakers and sound card. use the built in speakers (you won't have a sub woofer if that matters?) and the on board sound and then get this video card.

go for the 7900gt if u can spare the money, for a gaming machine, its gonna be worth it.

for your HDD, u can get 2 and put them on RAID 0 to get better performance on them.

your acer lcd has built in speakers, perhaps not necessary to get speakers again. get a gd headset instead. http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showt...hlight=headset
also, the pixel pitch is too big, 0.294mm is big, 0.25mm is the more common size. 8ms might still see some ghosting. power consumption of 60W is a little on the high side, try finding about 40W, friendlier on your electricity bills.
i think the samsung syncmaster or viewsonic VX series would be gd.

microsoft mouse for gaming like bf2 would not be fast enough. i would say the razer viper, db or copperhead or logitech mx series or g5. keyboard, perhaps can try saitek or logitech, may have programmable macros too.
of course, i recommended more expensive but better alternatives, but it still depends on how much u can spare really.

Danny are you using a sound card or just the onboard sound?

I still say with that X2 processor just put the money into something else. specially if you're only doing 2.1

mate i got the same processor and graphics card so i know how good it is i can play bf2 on max settings at 60fps and 55-60 fps when on 64 player map
and i can also play all other games max out (exept oblivion but thats a demanding game)

oh yeh it does go higher than 60 but it never goes lower also anytihng above 20-30 in any game is enough

you kow what. considering you're going with just 2.1 speakers and if you really don't want to go with the onboard sound then just stick with that one. anything more expensive is going to be leaning more towards 7.1 technology and since you're not doing that it would just be a waste of $$.

I have headphones but only use it for the MIC part...
Speakers are prefered, not surround sound just a pair of normal speakers..

Sooo... any suggestions on a new soundcard?

and I still need some building + overclocking guides

honestly, like I said that sound card probably wouldn't do anything more than the onboard would do. hell the onboard might even be better.

just an FYI, if you don't mind playing with headphones (I love it) get a pair of decent USB headphones from zalman or plantronics and they will do the processing for you. most USB headphones have a processor on them. but if not then just save the soundcard money or like I said put it into the video card. I totally understand being on a tight budget. you just have give everything a priority.

I thought AMD didn't support DDR2?

This is an AM2 procesor (the new set)

On july 24th it will drop from $300 to $150 (give or take a little)
