monitor settings for best gaming w/ bf2

hey guys, just got a new monitor. its a NEC multisyncFE992. im curious on what settings you guys have such as refresh rates for bf2. im not too computer smart, so i dont know if this would vary a lot from monitor to monitor but heres my info...

-1024x748 pixels
-highest 32 bit color
-ATI radeon 9700 pro vid card

my refresh rate right now is at 60 hertz.

is there anyway i can improve my gaming with bf2 by adjusting anything? i appreciate the info. :p

1600*1200 @ 75Hz would be best, if your GFX card can handle it.

Ahh..it's a CRT... I thought it was an LCD.

For a 19" CRT I usually play at 1280X960.
That is a 4:3 ratio and is high enough to look good and low enough for you're card to handle.

When I had my 9700 Pro that's what I used.
Also, set you're desktop refresh rate at 85MHz.

S'OK...I found that out when I looked it up.
Try my suggested settings.
1600 is WAY too high for a 9700 Pro. I know, I had one.
You don't need to be that high.

i did what the above poster said, all looks good now. im still having big problems with this game though.

how can i free up disk space on my hard drive besides a reformat?.... the updates dont work - they either freeze when downloading or i get the shaders error, ive tried everything on this forum to try to fix it, and i still doesnt wanna work. im still playing 1.1 idk what to do anymore...

Download errors?
Where are you getting the patches from?

If your downloads are freezing or you're having other problems there may be more wrong with your system than just the game.

have you tried just using the EA downloader for patching?

Have you tried resetting your system restore point? You'd be surprise how much disc space system restore uses by default.

If you haven't done a disc cleanup yet it's in that area, that might provide some more space.

Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disc Cleanup

As soon as you enter DiscCleanup it will generate a list with check boxes of of things you can delete. For the most part this list of things won't affect your computer adversely once they are dumped. But if it does, don't blame me ;-). This is generally the safest way to gain disc space. Depending on your surfing and general computer habits this could be a large ammount of space or not much.

Now on to System Restore Points.

There's another tab on the DiscCleanup panel called "More Options". At the bottom is a section called "System Restore". What this will do is erase all the stored system restore points and begin to log new ones.

If your confident you computer is running well and you don't need to revert it back to a pervious state, then it's O.K to get rid of these files. But once it's done the latest "safe Point" or "working configuration" will only be a point in time after you've done this clean up.

To see how much disc space System Restore is using.

Rightclick MyComputer Icon/ System Restore Tab.

There's a slider that indicates the ammount of HD space for it to use. Less means you won't be able to go back as far in time when restoring. More means the restore points will go further back in time, but take up more disc space.

I'd recommend dumping unwanted programs or those that are not needed, but those a personal preferences.
