    Re: wireless connection

Is there any way for you to connect with a wire? Like move the wireless router to the same room as your computer?

That's probably your best bet at improving your connection.

      Re: wireless connection

This may or may not be an option, but I believe there are more powerful antennas that can be attached to either your router or your wireless card. I'll do a quick search and try to find an example.

Your best bet is going to be like davelisowski said...wire it up.

      *edit*

Here is an example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833164157 but it's definitely going to depend on your wireless card as to whether or not something like this will work.

The first thing you should do is learn to type. Nothing worse then having someone ask a question without punctuation marks. Also using words that aren't real words (like wat, any1, plz, and sry) makes you sound really unintelligent, no matter how lazy you are. It Kind of makes it seem like you are throwing a question out there without searching other places for answers.

Anyway, Using wireless technology for gaming is not a great way to go, if you can I would go wired. However, if you have no choice, you can get a 802.11g /Wireless Adapter, which may be your best option. But no matter what you do, I don't think you will be able to fix the problem, Wireless Internet was not intended for gaming. The wireless router sends packets in bursts, so when a burst is not being sent and you are gaming, it will lag, because there is no information being sent. Good luck!

          Re: wireless connection

There are so many things that can disrupt a wireless connection even if the equiptment is good.

The house itself for example, how thick the walls/floors are, whats in the walls. Microwaves, other wireless equiptment etc etc

As said, unless you plan on moving the router or your machine then getting either a larger antenna or purchase a Wireless range extender like:

may solve the problem. Otherwise go wired mate, wireless isn't for gaming.

i have had a similar problem that I have not been able to get rid of all together but turning off windows wireless zero congfig helps alot.
right click on my computer and choose manage. then choose services and then wireless zero config and choose stop. you will not loose your connection. when your computer hibernates or turns off, you will have to restart this service to reconnect to the router, but then you can turn it off again.

I would say (for me) this has solved about 90% of the lost connections.

I have a linksys wireless g with speed booster and usually connect at 54 Mbs. I had to buy the high gain antenna to go about 30 feet through a stick frame house.
I am curious, I see new routers by linksys that are advertised as gaming routers. anyone know anything about them.

could you not just plug the router into a socket in another room closer to your gaming computer?

my brother has this problem and he ends up putting his computer next to the router when hes gonna play for a while :p

                        Re: wireless connection

Shame that, ah well maybe a cable is the best solution in that case.

Their fairly cheap, £20 for 50m or so i think so you could go for that :)

Why do you care about what cerberus is saying about your grammar, just stick him on ignore if you care that much, failing that you could always waste time pointing out the (at least 2) grammatical errors in his post :p

Yeah, the purpose of language is to communicate an idea, you are right, and you did accomplish it. I never called you unintellegent, you may be the smartest kid on the block, but what I said was it makes you seem unintellegent. I didn't mean to come off as bitching or whatever, I was just pointing out that it is kind of annoying. No hard feelings, I am sorry if it felt direct. It is just after browsing so many forums, and running into so many jumbled sentences, i had to say something. That sucks that you cannot move your computer, and the phone line is no good. Same thing almost happend to my computer, but i ended up running a 100 foot cat5 cable underneath the house from the den to my bedroom.

What kind of network equipment do you have right now? Like what kind of router and adapter are you using?

Uhm... Do you know what i'm tired of?

People who correct other peoples typing.

If you or anyone else se a typO, you can still understand what he means right?

So why turn a "i need help" thread, into a "check your spelling" thread...

Doesn't it mean you are unintellegent. It just makes you look that way. I wholeheartedly agree with him. It makes you look like a little kid that doesn't know proper English.
