    Possible pc upgrade..

    Ok,
So right now on this machine i have:

    3.2ghz p4 prescot core
    2x1Gb of ram
    BFG 7800GT OC
    X-FI extreme music
    and a 450W psu
    150GB HD
    Asus p5gd1 mobo

My question is what (if anything) should i updgrade for a performance update...

Im posibly looking at getting a new amd motherboard and a 4200+ duel core.. Would that be a good idea to get at this time? i dont realy think so with am2 around and im just not sure.. so please let me know!

    thanks in advance.

EDIT- sorry wrong section... and also what about a AGEIA physics card?

I wouldn't get the physics card unless you have a game that supports it and you feel like spending the money to add a new element

On the site they should have all of the supporting games

I'm sorry, it's a HUGE peve of mine. It is DUAL, not duel....

Honestly you'd be wasting your money upgrading right now.

Don't get an Aegia PhysX card.

Wait a bit and see who else comes to the table.

At the moment Ghost Recon is the only game using the Ageia card and technology. Future games for it could be minimal as the Havoc engine can be used to good effect by cards running in SLI or Crossfire, and logic means most people would rather a second graphics card than a card that just does physics. I forsee the future of the Aegia card to be somewhat of a white elephant.

To be honest, your machine is fine, I wouldnt bother upgrading it till Vista hardware is more commonplace with DX10 graphics cards and a hybrid hard drive. Upgrading now would yeild minimal improvements in performance for the money and need to be upgraded in a year or so anyway.

Yup. Unless on the off-chance you have heaps of spare cash, in which case send it to me, I could make good use of it....
