New audio card suggestions?

I have been running without an audio card and I want to get one to free up my processor a bit...

I don't want to spend much,, that meaning less than 80.

I am looking on NewEgg at the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS SB0350 Sound Card - OEM for about 70 dollars... what does everyone think about this? Link


Things I want to know:

1. Will this work with BF2? (I have read several reviews on newegg on other cards about the hardware not running with BF2)

2. Is this much of an upgrade?

3. I have heard about crackles when voices are made, will the occur?


Please suggest and give input!

Okay, on the note of the Audigy2 ZS does anyone know if this card will work with BF2 on hardware settings?

the audigy 2zs will work on High, on Hardware. but for an extra like 25$, you can get an x-fi. and the step from an audigy to an x-fi is HUGE. the audigy is a good card, but for 25$ more, the x-fi is unbeatable.

You shouldn't get an audio card for freeing up your processor, you should get one for great audio. Although it will help out the CPU, it's not much of a difference at all, and usually brings no FPS increase.
And I must say, I really like my X-Fi too :)

thats what I try to tell people. sound cards are for better sound quality not FPS. if you want better FPS get a new video card or more ram. the sound card is for sound quality. thats why that X-fi ad saying "do you want 40% more fps?" is so stupid, and people who buy it for more FPS dont know what they doin' foo'.

Get an X-Fi XtremeMusic.

I got mine from newegg for ~80 after a MIR. Great deal.
