i was thinking about upgrading to sata but then i saw iram. honestly ram and hard drive speed seem to be the largest bottlenecks in bf2, my video card can run the game and i have a 2.4 processor, any suggestions on what i should upgrade for stable smooth gameplay and fast load times? more ram or iram?

well i remember getting my first SATA hard drive in 2003 and i noticed a huge improvement back then between my old IDE and it, but the best and most cost effecient way is to set up RAID with 2+ hard drives.
I have 3 160gb's in RAID level 0 and u wanna see my bootup time, i turn on my PC, the motherboard POST's, then win xp loading screen, loading bar goes across 1.5 times, then flashes the welcome screen for a second, then readjusts the resolution of my monitor and by the time that comes back (2-4 seconds), all my startup programs are loaded (anti virus/daemon tools/creative volume control yolk/steam/ea downloader/firewall/bandwidth monitor/skype/xfire/msn etc) pretty sweet i have to say
I also used to play BF with 1gb of ram, and when i got 2 gb's i didn't notice anything off the loading time, but when the map's do load, there was no jutty stallling which i used to experience for the first 60 seconds of a map with only 1gb. hope that helps ya make a decisionComment

well Iram, RAM and SATA are totally different.
IRAM isnt used the same way as RAM. IRAM works like a hard drive, but smaller and faster and can only hold 4 gigs so heres where your logic doesnt work.
if you decided to go "iram" instead of SATA, which you were deciding between, instead of getting hard drive space such as 150GB, you would get 4GB. its not used for storage, its used for fast loading into the RAM. now its different from regular ram, because the IRAM gets loaded INTO the RAM.
I would suggest getting 2GB of RAM, and THEN more hard drive space if needed.Comment

okay, well IRAM would only help with load times, and compared to a normal hard drive it might be faster, but still.... the amount of time it saves you is not worth the money for A. the IRAM, and B. the 4GB of ram to put IN the IRAM because it does not come with any.

okay you just KEEP messin terms up lol. :).
the 6600 is a pretty good card and can play the game on medium. but the guy who posted and said it relies on GPU and RAM, meant that the game FPS and graphics mainly depends on what video card you are using and how much system memory (RAM) you have.
the 256mb on the 6600 is video memory, or video ram, it is different and only dedicated to the video card. now ya know
