I jst saw this review today that showed the 2.4ghz E6600 beating the $600+ 4800 you have there. And they were able to overclock it to 3.1ghz with Intel's stock cooler and no change in voltage. http://www.tbreak.com/reviews/articl...6&pagenumber=4
My suggestion would be to wait for Conroe. Some reports say September, but I really think it's gonna come out July 23rd...

If he waits for Conroe, then crossfire would be out of the question, as to my knowlage ATI doesn't make any intel chipsets. Not that I disagree with you though. Either that, or wait for the AMD price drop in July.

The 975 board supports Crossfire so...

4th board down, it's based on the 975 chipset and supports Conroe. I think there were a couple more like this as well, this was just the first one I've found.
But he wasn't going for Crossifire in the first place. So if he were to go with Conroe, I think it would be best to save a couple bucks and get a 965 chipset board.

edit: Nvm, I guess he stated that he did want to go Crossfire when DX10 comes out. But I think the better choice would be to just sell the x1900xt and getting a new DX10 card :)

The ATI Xpress 200 chipset does support Intel and crossfire.

Yeah, but it's also one of the worst chipsets of all time.

Yes true, but i have the money now and i was gona wait for the 2nd or 3rd generation of DX10 cards becuse the first are always buggy and its the 3rd most of the time that get the job done.
