Need urgent help!
I got some ram and put it in. When i turned on, screen lasted for 2 secs bfore the pc blew somehow and a puff of smoke came out from where the DVD drive is. I got rid of static bfore by touchin the metal case for a few secs bfore touchin components. Now when i turn on, the monitor reads "no signal" and the bios is makin a continuous beeping sound which i found out has somethin to do with memory or graphics card. Even my expert friend is baffled and has checked the motherboard and components for blown resisters and none have been found. P.S. I have a Phoenix Bios, thanks alot if u can help me.

Try replacing some ram with known good ram. If it works then the ram is bad if it doesn't then it's something else.
Also try booting with nothing in but Vid card, ram, and CPU, nothing else.
Try using a known good video card to rule that out as well.
It's just a process of elemination. -

thats wat my expert friend sed, have tried each stick of ram seperately and it still doesnt work. Ive also tried with jus vid, ram and CPU aswell :hmm: tomorrow im gonna try with a diff graphics card. Hopefully that will solve it. Anyway thx for the reply.Comment

you may have like permanently damaged something if a puff of smoke blew out lol, just a thought.
my friend has a almost EXACTLY similar thing happen, and it was because he was using a 20 pin power connecter, in a 24pin slot on in his mobo, once they fixed that it seemed to work. but he even had the DVD drive puff of smoke too. just a thought, i dont know if that was his problem, but when he changed it to 24pin he said it worked again.Comment

I think the PSU is fine because the pc still turns on and the PSU doesnt seem damaged. My friend sed if it was the PSU it would stink out the room lol.Comment
