Computer freezes after map loads

Ok, I dont know whats going on....I have a new DELL XPS System which should run BF2 with no problem. My problem isnt the game itself. But my problem seems to be the game FREEZES just after a map loads.

For example...a map will load, but as soon as I click the join button, it freezes and I need to hard-restart my machine. If the game lets me it, it runs fine.

PC Stats

Pentium D 2.80 ghz
1024 MB RAM
GeForce 6800 (using 83.90 forceware)
19" Flat screen running at 1280x1024

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Eversince the new patch, my game crashes to the desktop sometimes when I hit the join button, but a lot of people have that problem. It shouldnt freeze though...

Get the latest drivers, DX9, etc...

Check to see whether your hardware is overheating, there might be too much dust on your heatsick or something.

its not heat/dust. I would say drivers or something, maybe CPU or ram.

all you drivers are installed? ever have this problem before? did it use to work before, and when if so?

Well, it wouldnt freeze after I clicked the join button, but randomly during gameplay. My reason was overheating. But I fixed that.

Im almost positive it is your drivers. Check to make sure on goolge.
