    Help needed quick

Hi, I bought Battlfefield 2 Special Forces a few days ago, and initally had it installed on my pc which was somewhat aged. I didnt know that my 1.6 ghz processor wouldnt run the game. So I came to realize I needed a better pc, so I got one.

And now, I install it, and I get the directx error relating to SP2 and the inability to update directx to 9.0c; so I uninstall SP2, get the latest directx and it installs nice. I copy the file I needed over to the directory of BF2 (the one directx couldnt find before, or something) and the error message is gone when I load BF2, but now the screen flashes black and goes back to my desktop, no BF2 to be played...

    So any suggestions?

    bump?

I have a 1.8ghz processor 1 gig ram, 128mb nvidia videocard, all the latest drivers and all that jazz. All I get is a Battefield 2 popup type thing and then it goes to a black screen then flashes back to my desktop.

well, I have not heard of a SP2 DX9 error.... so it sounds like you messed something up..

i would install SP2 through the windows updates, install the latest DX9 from the website and uninstall and reinstall the games. make sure you patch them after wards. though, it maye be abother problem. WHICH 128mb nvidia card do you have? some 128mb cards are not supported

yea, usuually an immediate crash back to desktop before the game has even started means something in your computer is incompatible....

As for the SP2 problem, look here. The page is refering to AOE, but I was directed to that link from a post somewhere else on this forum regarding the issue talked about on that page.

The card is a Nividia Geforce4 Ti 4600 with the latest drivers.

Processor is a AMD Athlon Xp 2200+ (~1.8)

Specs wise, the PC should be able to handle the game. I'll try a fresh install?

That's your problem right there, BF2 isn't supported by any Geforce 4 cards.

So, either upgrade your video card to a 5xxx or higher, (best option would be an AGP 7XXX series), or build a new computer.

              Well damn.

And the only reason im going through with this long process of getting this to work is because of this: You can not return opened pc software or games to Wal-Mart; Anyone care to suggest me a cheap card that will work with this game?

You could get this...... Dirt cheap, you could probably run mostly low with a couple mediums...

If I were you, I really wouldn't put much more money into that system... it is becoming obsolete quickly....

At that point I'd just buy a used 9800pro. It's almost as fast as a 6600gt, and it's still a great card.
